Bought a medium sized male (about 5-6 inch) from liveaquaria about 11 days ago... he ate all the hair algae i left growing on some rocks and now just grazes off rock... not much of anything left anymore to munch on.

i feed multiple times a day and mix it up between cyclopeze, formula flake, spirulina frozen, and pe mysis frozen. Naso wont touch any of it

also have some green algae strips on a clip and he wont touch it... starting to see the belly pinch in a little

Have soaked everything in garlic guard too and it didn't make a difference.

If you have one please tell me what your feeding.. dont want to lose this guy

water params r dead on and healthy

Keep trying the nori and any other algae. My blonde took a while to come around and he came from live aquaria. He still only eats the algaes and doesn't look at anything else.

Try taking pieces of coral rubble and tying pieces of algae sheets to them. Throw them around in the tank, on the rocks, the substrate, etc. He may be more inclined to try it if it appears natural when he is grazing.

This is much more likely to work than just some algae on a clip. I picked up a Naso two weeks ago who has yet to eat anything out of the water column, but will now devour any algae placed in the rocks. I get a smaller piece and rubber band some green algae two it and place it in the rock work. I would also recommend trying some other algaes; both red and purple seem to help me when I've got a new surgeonfish that isnt otherwise intrigued by food choices.

My blonde Naso is from DD. 4" female but is starting to look like a male. Well I just put some of sally's seaweed salad green marine algea and starting eating from the clip on the 3rd day of having her/him. I also tried the purple seaweed and doesnt like that one for some reason. Have some algea on the rocks and doesn't even give it a second look.
