blue background of tanks??

picture not found.
Anyway, at my LFS they sell backgrounds with pictures, but they also sell the blue background.
Some duct tape and its ok I think.

The link didn't work for me.What I would suggest though,is if you're going to paint the back of the tank, then go a couple of shades darker than you want.Once the lights are on,it can make the background colour look lighter & more washed out.HTH.

Yup.. blue never really looks that good. Black adds depth to the tank, blue is kind of in your face...

...but that is just my opinion.

I've seen couple of blue tanks that looked good. Kind of have that shallow reef feel to them. But not many. I prefer black myself.

Any flat black paint will work. You can roller it on, or spray paint. Don't get paint into the tank though.

I spray painted my 120. It's durable and looks really good compared to paper or plastic backgrounds. I also have used adhesive sign vinyl. It works pretty good but is a little more difficult to put on without having air bubbles and such...

Sorry I didn't snap any pics with it empty and painted, I think I used Rustoleum but can't remember now. Obviously I used black. Any brand should work, the cheaper stuff will work fine but probably need more coats than a better name brand. BTW I assume its a given, but... paint the outside not the inside...

i actually like the look of a blue background. as long as it is kept clean. here is a picture of my friends tank

My tank came with glass overflow boxes without teeth. I made overflow boxes with 1/4" blue acrylic. I also used the same blue acrylic on the inside of my glass tank inbetween the overflow boxes. It gives a seamless blue color across the back of the tank.

Most people use spray paints and some use latex with a roller.
Many different ways to get the desired effect.

I just painted mine with spray paint... the name of the color was Deep Blue, took around 3 coats of blue to cover, then i added a few layers of black to stop light from penetrating....

Did the same thing on the 155 bowfront

I used a black piece of signing material called coroplast. It comes in blue as well, but I'm not sure what shade. It's thicker than just the plastic sheets from the LFS (4mm, stiff like a board instead of rolling like the sheets), and probably cheaper ($20 for a 4'x8' sheet). Grab the yellowpages, look up a local sign store, and give them a call. They should be able to get it in a day or so. I just velcroed it to my tank behind the overflows, and I can pull it off with ease if desired.

I used blue Latex from the mismatch isle at HD. Cost...$1

Here it is after ~2 years:

And to compare how a black overflow looks in two years:
