Blue Carpet

I got a blue carpet anemone on the 18th and he has been off and on since. Sometimes he looks good, sometimes he looks not so good. Water parameters are all good, so I'm wondering if you have any suggestions.

Nosferatu51,

Thank you for your recent order with LiveAquaria from our Diver's Den. We are sorry to hear that your Blue Carpet Anemone has not fully acclimated yet. It can often take time for this sensitive species to fully acclimate to life in a new environment. For now, we would not recommend handling the anemone to reduce stress. Prior to offering any specific recommendations, we will need some further details from you. If you could please provide us with the following information we may be able to further assist you. Feel free to PM us with this information if you would prefer.

1. How long has the aquarium been set up?
2. How large is the aquarium?
3. When were the water parameters last checked?
4. What were the results of the water tests?
a. Ammonia?
b. Nitrite?
c. Nitrate?
d. pH?
e. Temperature?
f. Salinity?
5. What type of specimens are in the aquarium?
6. Please describe the procedures used to acclimate the anemone to your lighting and your water.

The tank is a 20long that has been set up for about 4 months, but is actually running inline with a 125g SPS reef with a 50g refugium that has been up for about a year. I guess it is more like an isolated refugium sorta thing if that makes sense. The maroon clown (about 2-3") has lived in there since setup pretty much.
Checked tests on Saturday and nitrates, nitrites, and ammonia were all 0. My pH kit wasn't playing nice, so I'm not sure of the pH at this exact moment, but it's been stable for a long while and I have no reason to believe that's changed.
Temperature is kept at 79F by a chiller.
Salinity is 1.026.
As I said, in the 20long is just the maroon clown and a candy coral.
150W halide over the 20long.
To acclimate him I drained the bag to about 50% and added a "shots" of tank water from a turkey baster over the next hour with an additional bag draining at 30mins. Not quite a drip mechanism, but close.
I figured that the anemone was coming from your 400W system and wouldn't need acclimation to a single 150W. I also assumed that if he didn't like the bright light, there were rocks for him to hide under at the sides (which are darker than the center too since the single "pendent" doesn't fully reach the 30" length).
He looks REALLY bad right now, almost inverted.

nosferatu51,

Thank you for contacting us with the information regarding the anemone. We apologize the anemone is still not looking well. From what you listed your aquarium would do well with the anemone. We recommend at this point continuing to keep a close eye on the anemone and your water conditions. Please keep us informed on the anemone’s health.

It does not look good and I'm starting to see some necrosis. I'll give it until the night to make a final assessment, but things don't look good.

Dear Peter,

Thank you for attempting to help the anemone. As you are starting to see some necrosis we recommend removing the anemone from your aquarium. We have credited you for the item and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.

If we can be of any more assistance please feel free to contact us.
