Blue Hippo tang gone rogue?

I have been noticing an area of Xenias in my tank looking pretty bad, and a frogspawn looking like it is beginning to die on one of its corners. Tonight I saw my blue hippo tang take a couple of bites out of my xenia and spit it out, a few minutes later he went up to the frogspawn and did the same to it. Has anyone had similar behavior from a "reef safe fish?" Is it time to have Rogger come by with his harpoon?

I've seen blue hippos that eat xenia. someone locally had one if I remember correctly. Maybe it was a sixline? I dunno. But yea, tangs and foxfaces and such sometimes do go rogue unfortunatly :(

I say make sure that the water params are doing fine, so that something else isn't effecting the corals. If the corals have no algae, allparams are good, etc, then it might be time.

Eso te pasa por ser descarado.... jodete!

Oye, seriously that sucks... definitely get him out or you can kiss the frog goodbye.

I will start feeding more nori to see if that helps. A certain guy that deals in gases told me "YOU ARE FEEDING TOO MUCH, YOU ARE FEEDING TOO MUCH!" So maybe the poor blueboy is really hungry, and or ****ed off. I'm gonna feed that sucker so much nori he will think he is a sushi chef. Thanks, I hope that works.

LOLOLOLOL

Well now u r feeding to little.

Carlitos I'll show u my nori feeding device.
Short pvc WITH holes rubberband and sheet of nori attached to it.
U hold it to your glass with a magnet. viola!

LMAO feed him don't pollute your tank.Anything that's not gone in 5mins is way too much.

Carlos as a referrence of feeding Nori I fed to muchin the begining to my purple tang and as Manny said it wasn't gone and just started floating throughout the tank...not good...I have cut back what I previously fed significantly..

My purple is about 3.5-4" long and I feed him a piece of nori no wider and longer than my thumb. I fold it in half and I use my mag float to hold it in place... It gets taken down within a minutes time between the tang and flame angel I have..

I do this daily.. Good luck amigo.

Gasman, let's see a pic of your nori device. I hate that stuff, always breaks loose and floats around. Sometimes I throw in algae wafers. The tangs and blennies go nuts for it. Either way it turns the glass green, even though my phosphate level is very low.

ive had bad luck with hippos, but just the larger ones, seem to nip at a ton of stuff, owned 2.

i fed 4x day with pellets, as well as 1-2x a day mysis and a piece of nori daily.

Pedrito I usually charge for my services but I will let this one fly.
Over the years I've tried every device there is and bar none this way the nori stays where is supposed to and none goes flying around especially in a tank being turnover x50.

simple pvc WITH HOLES drilled.
nori sheet around the pvc-secured in place with rubber bands.

And viola all of my critters love them nori.

OK, so now that we've officially hijacked Carlos' thread, what's the purpose of the holes? Obviously you need one to thread the cable through. And what type of cable is that? Copper?

Just monofilament-aka fishing line. The holes avoid the pvc from flying sideways and keeps it up and down for the most part.
