The LFS I go to has a small blue throat trigger I want to get, but Im concerned for my cleaner shrimp, 2 fire shrimps & my CBS. I dont want to lose them. How do these triggers fair in a reef tank w inverts. Also is my 92 good enough to house it?

Diet Information: Carnivorous - Does well with a varied diet of mysis shrimp, krill and other protein based frozen foods.
Additional Information : Often billed as the only reef safe trigger, the blue throat trigger is a very well behaved fish. Typically shy and non aggressive it will probably be fine in most reef tanks. The blue throat trigger is still a triggerfish so it is possible inverts or corals could enter it's food chain.
These fish are extremely shy and it is not unusual for them to hide for several days after being introduced to a new aquarium.
Tank Mate Compatibility : Other reef safe and non aggressive fish. Use caution with small fish that could be eaten as a trigger snack.
Breeding Information: No known way in a home reef tank.
Determining Sex: Males tend to be larger and the throat is a much deeper blue.
Primary Area in Tank: All over

You should be ok I know a couple people that house them in their reef tanks. They have a great personality! It should be fine IMO with your shrimp but really just depends on the fish itself. Kinda like your angels you won't know for sure what it will nip and what it wont if you dont try. I know someone who has a huma huma and the tank has 5 cleaner shrimp and it doesn't touch them.

I have had my blue throat for around a year now. I have 5 or 6 skunk cleaners and never observed an issue. The other day the Blue Throat got spooked and went to his day time hideout (which he only goes to when spooked) and locked himself in - for the first time I looked back there and he had 2 skunks all over him and was twitchless.

At night he sleeps inside a hole on the front side of a larger monti cap I have.

One night the lights went out and he spooked and launched himself out of the tank - I picked him up from the tile and washed him off quickly with RODI to wash off any contaminants and tossed him back in. Since then I made it a point to make sure my light transitions are in place.

He is a food hog - I tried to fill him up once and could not. BUT, he paces too much and I feel sorry for him - he does not settle down and just explore - I have seen this on other threads. It makes me want to give him a much larger home - he is only about 5 inches long - I have a 120. If I had researched better I would not have gotten him.
