Zoanthid gigantus - large polyp, slit mouth, blue - "Shark's Reef's BPE's"?

It is hard to see from the photo, but they look just like my other "people eaters". I got them from the "Shark's Reef". Huge score from a LPS. Some how they got dozens of colonies. So, I can't call them rare.

Any other BPE's out there?

those are nice, but they aren't pe's no bright green mouth. they look similiar in pattern to the watermelon pinks and some reds with green centers i have. I like them alot.

yeah, they aren't people eaters for sure. they have a greenish center, but not a green slit mouth. sorta look like those alien eyes, except with a little more color cool!

That mouth does indeed look like the "alien eye" mouth.

I guess I am out of touch with what makes a PE a PE. These aren't them either?

It has to be a slit and green, cool. The above photo is old. They are more purple now. They are really starting to look like PPE's except the mouth is white. My new blues have the exact form except the coloring. The polyps are almost nickel size and the mouth has a slit.

PE = People Eater

It refers to the green "slit", mouth, in the center of the polyp.

those second pics you posted, are definitely the same species as people eaters (whether it be zoanthid gigantus or protopaly).

they arent people eaters though, i dont think anyone has named what a blue slit mouth is yet. feel free to come up with a name

green slit mouth = people eaters
orange slit mouth = mutant eaters (something i made up, only seen about 3 diff morphs w/ orange slit mouths)

Actually the colony was stressed a month ago (at the LFS) and are just coloring up....
