BTA Help!

I have a green irridescent bubble tip anemonie. I have had it for about 3 months. I added another just about a month ago. I also upgraded my light fixture to put out more light for my coral. Now my first bubble tips tentacles have turned almost a lavender red and the foot has changed color a bit. The tentacles also dont seem as full as they used to be. My two clowns host in this anemonie all the time. I have just recently put it in more direct light to see if it help. Also, I cannot hand feed this thing now. I have tried krill, cyclopeze, etc and it wont take food. It just closes up and rejects everything. I would hate for it to die because it is beatiful when green and I also don't want it to contaminate my tank. I have a 20 gal tank and everything else is doing well. Only fish I have is two clowns. All my tank requirement are up to snuff (skimmer, R/o water, salinity, ph,etc). Any suggestions?

Do you clowns feed the anemone? Maybe it is full?Check to see if when your clowns are feeding on food if they take any back to the anemone.

Could be that your lighting is more than enough intake of food for the anemone. What type of lighting do you have? Water parameters?

My nitrates are 20, Nitrite is 0, tds is 26. I curently dont have a way to check calcium, but I have been adding it every 2 days. My amonia is .25. I also have not seen the clowns feeding the bta but I guess they could be. The foot of the thing almost looks like vanilla and clear strings. I have been trying to lay food next to the bta but the clowns knock it out of the way. Could the fish be depleating something from the bta?

Panda, Your ammonia needs to be Zero - how old is your tank?

Stringy tentecals usually mean hunger. Can you be more precise on lighting (MH/PC/VHO - total wattage ?)

Also, I have a green flourscent Anemone. They all seem to loose their flourscence over time in captivity. But i really can't see how it would turn a lavender red. Do you have a pic?

Today the bta has eaten a clump of cyclopeze! I did a water change last evening and brought down my ammonia. I am not quite sure what the wattage is on my light but I had a 56 watt Coralife on it but a friend who is more knowledgable about light gave me this one because it put out more watts. I have seen big difference in my soft corals with new fixture. Just stil concerned with the discoloration. Will try to get pics.

I question the water quality; the ammonia at .25 doesn't necessarily mean a problem as some test kits will detect a minute amount while others will show the same water as zero.
The nitrates at 20ppm is a concern; is the tank over fed or is the bio load too high?

Another concern is the mixture of soft corals with an anemone; many softies produce very strong chemical toxins that they release into the water column to ward off potential "space invaders".
This warfare is known as allelopathy.

To help combat toxins within a confined space it is recommended to run an oversized skimmer, activated carbon changed frequently (at least once a month) and regular water changes.

I run a marineland bio wheel with natural filter and a auqua clear mini with carbon. I change the carbon once a month. I also have a cpr backpack skimmer. I only have a cluster of azenia, ans also a cliuster of some green zooanthids. Bta moved 2 inches today. I think it is tring to get situated with current. I have a mini powerhead and also the power head from the skimmer pointed opposite each other. I would be concerned about my other soft corals but my other Anenomoe is doing fine. I also have a baby one in there too which fends for itself for food. I also change the water (20%) once a week. Thanks for the suggestions. Hope this can help you identify even more.
