Bubble algae

Is there any way to get rid of bubble algae? So far my ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and phosphate have all been zero. Nutrients don't seem to play a part with it. I've tryed using low light, nothing. I really don't know what to do!

Nutrients have to play a part in it because that's what the algae uses to grow. So probably your bubble algae is performing nutrient export for you which is desirable. Basically picking it up before detectable. Of course what is not desirable is bubble algae!

You didn't say how much you've got - if it's on one rock you can remove that rock to a bucket filled with saltwater & try to pick it off. Try not to pop the bubbles. Be sure & rinse that rock well before putting it back in your tank --including immersing it in clean salt water

I know there are animals that eat it - maybe someone else will post as to which

One important note -- do not break any bubbles in your tank. I have read that if you do so , it releases reproductive parts into the water & they can then crop up anywhere in your tank, being no longer contained to one rock (or whatever existing colonies you've got now)

If you don't do anything to change your nutrient export (like better skimming, lower bioload et.) something will use it - hair algae whatever. I would suggest adding a more controllable macro algae to your system. Chaeto is very easy to control - personally I prefer as much a variety as possible.

Hope this helps & hope I wasn't too harsh up at the top about the nutrient issue.

I've heard about the poping thing. I was wondering if using ozone on the skimmer would help prevent them from spreading by releasing spors. Currently I have a remora, the aquarium is a 20 long. It seems to only be on one piece of rock, but that rock is holding up everything else aquascaping wise, lol!
