Bubble king mini 200 problems

I am very unhappy with my Bubble king 200 Mini.

I is a 1st gen and there is some sort of problem with the motor Block. The impeller is fine. The unit will run for an hour then the impeller will stop?

I have cleaned it several times but still not working. I am VERY Disappointed with the fact there is no place in the states I can send it to to be checked out. Or even phone number this not a retail store trying to sell me a $500 new pump which I am not sure if it will even fit!

When I pay this much money for a quality product I expect a level of service.

WHAT SHOULD I DO ??? MY SPS TANK IS SUFFERING WITHOUT MY SKIMMER!!!!!!

Thanks

Unfortunately, the motorblock is failing. Call LFS that carry pond pumps. What you are looking for is the Laguna Max-Flo (LMF) 1500 pump Waterfall and Filter Pump (PT-344). It uses the Askoll motorblock that the RD1500 motorblock is based upon. Just to be sure, open the pkg, if they allow you to and make sure that it's the Askoll based pump.

Gently pry off the RD1500 off the plate and it should break the glue bond. Any residual glue or RD1500 plastic in the plate slot grind out with a Dremel tool. I used a few drops of crazy glue to secure the LMF 1500 motorblock to the plate. Drill a larger hole in the motorblock there the volute attaches to it in order to slide the Ti bolts through.

HTH and good luck

I just did a quick Google search. Are you telling me that the pump they want $500 for is actually $129 ? Will this motor block fit the pinwheel and shaft I already have?

It will fit. The only "mod" you have to do is drill the 3 holes in order to push the bolts through. I've replaced 3 RD1500 motor blocks with the LMF 1500 motorblock. IMHO, they had a bad batch in that time period. It's been little over 2 years since I did the LMF 1500 "swop" and they are still running strong.

I was quoted from the LFS $450CDN for just a RD1500 motor block mounted on a plate.

My Bubble King mini 160 skimmer pump just went out last night. I'm having the same issues as you. Can't find ANYONE who can give me any help. I've been making phone calls all day. I can only find 1 online retailer that sells replacement pumps (and it's for the generation 1 which mine is the 2) and it's $500! I loved my skimmer....until now. I was just going to buy a brand new one but if it's that hard to find parts for it I'm not sure I want to go with another BK.

Here's a reply from Jeremy at premium aquatics from an old thread;

You would need to go with the direct replacement for the Mini's, since the motorblock is glued to the custom plate. You will also specifically need a Gen 1 block, the Gen 2 block has a different plate on the bottom of it. Give me a call at 317-895-9005 and we should be able to get you all set up with it.*__________________PremiumAquatics.com******

Don't know if this helps- my BK pump impeller broke. I bought a bubble blaster pump for $pretty cheap$ . I had to make a stand to bring up the skimmer so they would line up but that was easy enough as the pump out is on the bottom. It works as well as the RD1500. I'll never buy another BK product though. The skimmer is build like a tank but the customer service and parts availability stinks.

I had the same problem with mine. I had to replace the pump which was too expensive. I sold the skimmer housing and replaced it with an SWC skimmer and I have been happy with it. It skims as well and is quieter.

Hey
could you tell me which luguna max-flo I need for a bbk 160 mini ??

thank you in advance

The Mini’s use a heavily modified Askoll block that is very specific to the skimmer and not found in the Laguna Maxflo’s. The Mini 160 is no exception. I replied to your post in the Royal Exclusiv forum. If you can identify your skimmer version I will direct you to the correct replacement pump.

Hé,
ik denk dat de eerste generatie
mini bbk 600 op de pomp staat. Met
