Bulkhead Size

Basic Question:

Tank: 20 gallon high
Overflow: Internal 6x6
Return pump- 650 gph

What size bulkhead would you recommend for in the overflow? 1'' or 1.5'' ?

1.5" for sure.

Let me elaborate...
You should use the flow calculator that RC has to see how the head and plumbing will restrict flow and what the actual flow through your display tank will be. I think that with 12" of overflow, the 1" bulkhead will be the bottle neck. I don't think a 1" bulkhead will keep up with 400+ GPH gravity fed.

Got a 1.5'' ordered! I'll drill the tank once it gets here and get the overflow in place. The overflow is going to 5'' x 4'' or I'll just put a 6'' piece in the corner at a 45.

Will do! Will be my first tank in about 3-4 years. Just keeping it small and simple this time.
