buying first clam, any advise?

hi all, i'm thinking of buying my first clam, a medium sized squamosa. i don't have halides (4 55w compacts), but have heard that the squamosas arn't quite as demanding of light as the others, and can do well on compact florescents. i plan to feed him phpto playncton a couple of times a week. any other advise?

It's hard to say. I guess if you keep it close to the lights, it will be fine. I have my squamosa under 192W power compacts in a 38g and it's been doing great. Here's a pic. It grew from 1.5" to 3" in about 7 months. Mine is about 10" under the lights. I also feed DT's

You can see the white part of the shell is all new growth since I got it.
