I have a couple questions about a ca reactor. About how much flow do you want through a ca reactor with closed loop. and with the ph controller. do you want to test the ph of of effluant coming out or the tank water. and finnally what should the ph of the ca reactor be

Each tank is different. You need to adjust the ca reactor to the demand on your tank. I would first get the ALK and ca levels of the tank to the desired level

calcium ~ 450 mg / L
Alk

crap- somehow i hit the enter key

Each tank is different. You need to adjust the ca reactor to the demand on your tank. I would first get the ALK and ca levels of the tank to the desired level

calcium ~ 450 mg / L
Alk ~10 dKH

this can be done by reading http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/april2004/chem.htm

- Adjust the effuent rate and the C02 until the PH is about 6.7

- Wait about a day and check the ca / Alk level in the tank

- if the levels are high - decrease the effuent rate. if the levels are low - increase the effuent rate. Adjust the C02 accordingly to get the PH to about 6.7 again.

you will need to adjust until the ca / alk are stable which will take some time perhaps a week or two.
