Hey Richard, I am using quiet one pump for return just like yours.

BTW, I am currently setup 50g artisan cube tank.

Thanks for this thread for guiding me into the right direction.

I like the quiet one pumps. From my experience they are dependable, quiet and energy efficient and most of all affordable. And I am glad this thread helped you out that was my intention for starting it. Can you send me some pics of your setup when you get it going. Or better yet send me a link to your build thread . I like seeing all the other cadlights 50g's out there.

Put a ball valve just to be safe.

I have the return T'ed to a ball vavle, so i'm safe.

Wait will you be using the return pump to feed through the chiller as well? I don't suggest that because then tuning the return rate and chiller flow will be trickier. If you want a fast return rate in your tank you will have to slow down the rate into your chiller and vice versa. The flow rate through the chiller is pretty important to get the most out of it.

Well I talked to a buddy of mine and he told me how to set everything up. He has 3 tanks, all with chillers, so He's helping me out. He recommened me to get the Mag Drive 9.5.

So are you using the mag-dive to run both the return and the chiller?

Ooh I didn't know they made a new stand color. I will check it out when you start your build thread. In my refugium I have a bunch of different kinds of macroalgae (chaeto, ulva, caulerpa, botrycladia, ogo). No dsb. I don't really understand why people use dsb with macroalgae the desired flow characteristics are different so you compromise one or the other. Also I altered my baffle so a dsb would not work in my sump. Let me know when you start your build thread!

so did you raise the baffles or just put the macro in the provided space seems kinda short to me ? i will take pics this weekend and get them up next week i went with the reefkoi evoultion led lights

I raised one of the baffles. If you go to the beginning of this thread you can see how I modified the sump and there are pictures of my sump a couple pages back with the algae in there.
