cal and alk balance

I notice on the reef chemistry calculator it talks about at 4 meq balance cal would be 440. Is there any advantage at running at these levels? And the question that could cause a long answer, What does balanced cal and alk mean?

No, there is no advantage to targeting a "balanced" level.

IMO, calcium and alkalinity can be completely independent in the recommended ranges.
