Can I just use the same Calcium Chloride they sell in the hardware store to melt ice, for my calcium supplement...or do I need to find a food grade version somewhere else?

Thanks, Adam

This is just a tough time of year to find this stuff locally as it is used primarily as a deicer.

Farley's aricles on DIY calc and alkalinity name some products that can be used namely Prestone Driveway Heat, DowFlakes, and Peladow.

More information, including the recipe is here:

I had to order Dowflake from Buckeye because this stuff is seasonal and I just couldn't find it around here recently.

HTH.

That is where I'm getting it now, but I work at an ACE on Saturdays, so I figured if I could get it there for real cheap, I should.

or you can get it from me :D . 3 (25lb) bags of DowFlake for $20. You can not find it any cheaper even online.
