How old is your tank? If it's fairly new, the white spots your seeing might be spirorbid worms. Here's a good article on calcium precipitation though.

my tank is 7 months old the white spots are hard crusty dots about the size of of a pin head I can scrape them off . thank you for the link, I will be sure to read into it.
