Calcium reactor magnesium.

Looking to automate magnesium addition for my reef with a calcium reactor. Any one know a source for high magnesium media or any DIY media that has been used with success.

Use arm media on my calc reactor..... always have normal Magnesium readings without additions.

I did too till I added Kalk to increase my Ph and I have seen a steady decline in magnesium conc. Also I use IO for water changes so that doesn,t help the situation. Dolomite is what I had in mind but if anyone slde use anything let me know.

Tagging along on this one, I too was thinking of Dolomite. I have yet to find a source for it though.

The ZEOvit system sells Magnesium media to add to your reactor. Frag Farmer.com sells it. I use a kalk reactor and a calcium reactor with the mg media. I had to back the co2 off a little but both ca and mg levels are constant

I think we need magnesium chloride. Not sure of a good source.

Dolomite has been suggested too. Not sure which is actually better.

I've been using dolomite cranules. Works pretty well, and I haven't had any notable negative effecs. It doesn't take much....

Zack...let me know how it works, I have discovered the mag in ARM gets used up before the calcium so I have been dosing mag.

I got it from a fellow reefer here on RC.... You should be able to find it at nurseries and such..

Yeah...got an MRC and set up a 125 gallon, let me know if the media works, might need to split a shipment of that media...I hate dosing. lol
