So I started up my calcium reactor yesterday, and I have a question. Since putting it in operation, my tank pH has started to climb. It normally maintains between 8.2 and 8.4, but this morning when I looked at the ACIII display it read 8.78. I am going to calibrate both pH probes in a bit, but is there any way that the CR would cause pH to go this high? I thought that a CR would tend to drive pH low.
For my setup, the CR pH probe is in a probe holder between the two media chambers, and the reactor effluent drips into the sump. The system pH probe is in the refugium, which gravity drains into the sump. So in effect, the water from the reactor has to travel to the sump, up to the display, and back down to the basement refugium before it hits the system pH probe.
Help,
Mike
