Calcium test kit.

Good Day Sir,

Today I picked up a Calcium test kit from a local store that you are possibly familiar with. :) As a former nurse I am a bit picky about bubbles in syringes so this question might sound ridiculous. Should the syringe be completely full to include the pipet before the start of the drops? If the yellow part is on when you fill the syringe a substantial bubble (the volume of air inside the yellow part) is inside of the syringe. Is the final reading calibrated to include this air? Nolan gave me a 2 minute course on how to do the test but this is unclear. Thanks! Jason Farrar

Hi Jason,

It is best to take in the solution without the tip installed and then put the tip on and of course the results will be most accurate with no bubbles and the solution filled to the 0 mark. I wouldn't get overly concerned though, at most if you did it really badly you might be off by 40 ppm and you really just need a rough idea, between 350 and 450ppm I wouldn't worry too much.

It seems ironic to call someone witha Beavis avatar sir but I will accept that ;)
