Calibrate temp probe?

Im getting a 1-2 degree discrepancy between my ACJR and my glass thermometer and laser thermometer.

any way to calibrate the temp probe?

I would not expect a Laser thermometer to be that accurate measuring the temperature of liquids. The glass thermometer would need to be calibrated to a NIST standard or it to can be off.

In either case, shy of getting a rather prices NIST temperature standard 1-2 F is will not affect tanks; stability is most important. That said there is a thread from way back that included some links to purchase NIST standard thermometers for calibration; the glass ones start around $50, the electronic ones around > $150 (if I remember correctly).

im more concerned that my glass, digital and laser all agree within 1/2 a degree and the ACJR is off by 1.5 and when I have things set to be at 80 and cut off things at 82, if its hitting 84 before turning the lights off then I have a problem because thats where my sps start bleaching.

You can test all 3 temperature devices by purchasing a NIST calibrated thermometer. The one I purchased was a bit over $50; that will be the best way to be 100% sure of which device(s) are correct, which are off and by how much.

This is where I purchased mine:

The one I purchased is the 17 F model; range 66-80F, has gradient lines every .2 with enough space between lines to tell if the value is .1.

Guess Ill be getting one of those next month.

but either way....so no way to calibrate the temp probe?

Once you have an accurate thermometer you can calibrate the AC; there is a temp calibration screen in the menus.

 I am having the same issue and when i calibrated I am experiencing .2 to .4 degree swings in less than 15 seconds. My initial reading was off 2.8 degrees. I keep tightening the calibration but fear you are right that there may be a batch issue. I will give it a few more days and see if it settles or will contact NS

jeez - I went there and finding that unit is impossible no internal search engine to get to a a7F - how did you find it

It's been a while but I do recall it quite difficult to find it; you may just want to contact them the old fashion way;)
