Calling all Bare Bottoms, silicone question

Overland04

Wisher of the redo button
When I put the starboard on the bottom of the tank do I silicone around the edges to seal the underneath?
I went rimless so I won't have to cut it in half so is it bad to seal it?

The previous bare bottom thread we just had suggested either way. The important thing was that it was perfectly flat on the bottom so nothing could get underneath.

Silicone will not bond to starboard.

Very true. The silicone can act as a nice gasket, but you will want to lay the starboard flat, leaving enough room around the perimeter to put a bead of silicone on the glass.

I saw a couple people that cut the edges at a 45 degree angle to accommodate the bead of silicone That sounds like the best choice. I only got 1/2" so hopefully the manufacture had a steady hand when applying the silicone
