Calling Users of Tropic Marine Pro Reef salt

What amount of this salt do you use per gallon of water? I recently started using this salt and I mix it until salinity is 30ppm (SG = 1.022).
The problem is that at this concentration the magnesium level is nowhere around 1300ppm that I've heard stores and some aquarists claim. I measured Mg and it was around 1150ppm.

So what's happening here? How much do you mix and have you measured the Mg levels you have? What was it?

Thanks

TM pro doesnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t get very constant numbers, I think Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢m going to go back to regular TM or maybe try Ocean pure.

mb is correct. The level of magnesium is directly related to how much salt you use for your mix. 1150 sounds about right at 1.022

If you mix to 1.025-26, you'll see levels closer to the 1350 most strive for.

My Mg keeps dropping and at this point I'm only connecting that to doing water changes w/ low mag levels (I'm assuming evaporated water doesn't take Mg out w/ it). I'll aim for 1.025 next time and see what Mg I get. By any chance do any of you know how many grams of it you mix w/ a gallon of water, or do you just approximate and add to it until it hits 1.025ish?

Your Mg gets used by corals too, Randy has a formula somewhere of the proportions.

Edit, I usually use 1 cup every 2 gallons, comes out about right.

I mix mine high, 2 cups/5 gals. This will make it above the desired 1.026 amount. I them mix it with a power head for a day or so and add RO/DI water to get it to the desired sp. Its easy to add fresh water to lower it than add salt to raise it.
