Can I add new sand to existing crushed coral?

I'd like to add a 1 inch layer of fine sand on top of existing crushed coral. Currently the bed is about 1.5-2 inches. Can I do this? Or should I remove the crushed coral and replace it all w/ new sand? Don't want to mess up anything/parameters in the tank. Thanks for the help!

You could, but you won't have a clean line where the sand and the crushed coral meet. Is the sand cured and ready to go?

The crushed coral will work its way to the surface and end up looking the same as it does now. I made the crushed coral mistake with a prior tank and ended up syphoning it all up a little at a time when I did water changes. When it was completely removed I put new sand in. The new sand should be well rinsed and then added to your aquarium with the use of a large funnel to which you've attached some hose or pvc. This places the sand on the bottom just where you want it with very little disturbance or clouding.
