Can I take a piece of live rock out??

Title says.
Would it crash my bio filtration? Is it okay to take one semi large piece of live rock out of my tank? I dont want it anymore.

I am no expert but I would think that it would depend on the amount of rock you have vs the bio load in your tank.

If you have say 30lbs in a 20g tank you would probably be ok removing it.

Yes , Defuse is right on the money+1....How many pounds of rock vs amount of gallons and bioload. Also what kind of filtration and How about sand?

Well there's maybe 15 lbs in about 28gallons total volume. 1.5inch sand bed. Skimmer. 5 small fish. Been running for 4 or 5 months.

i would try to replace it with a different rock, that is not a lot of rock for the amount of water, i would get more live rock, closer to 30lbs if possible.

Nevermind, I just moved the rock to the sump. Things are good.
