I'm just curious this is what is going on. I have a 60 cube with about 30 gallon sump minus the sand and rock I figure about 70 gallons of total water.

I have for livestock 3 athias a neon pusedocromis, a foxface, a true perc, a cleaner shrimp. I have like 13 or so frag size sps and a couple lps and some zoas.

The tank has been set up for like two years but like 6 months ago I moved it and partially started over.

My tank parameters are

sg 1.025
alk was 9 raised to 9.5
Mag 1350
Cal is at 480
My ph is 7.8 at all times day and night

I switched to dripping kalk at night to hopefully raise my ph a little I havent noticed anything. My cal/alk demand is pretty low like 10 fl/oz of kalk a day so I'll stick with this for now. (I think) My Cal is so high because I've been using seachem reef salt( I want to switch salts to a lower cal so I can run a little closer to NSW.)

I use Ro di my tds 4 I will change the di resin.

The point

My SPS is pretty light polyps are out and they are slowly growing but the color is really light. I also have cyano that appears after lights go out and goes away when lights come on exept under rocks. I dont have a phosphate kit and dont know anybody with a photometer around here.

I test my nitrates and they are with an elos kit not clear but not really pink so I guess between 1 and 0

Can you help me solve the color issue and the cyano please.

sounds like phosphates and maybe nitrates.

gfo?
skimmer?
vodka?

get yourself a good phosphate kit like DD Merck (reasonably priced), HACH, or a colormeter.

I am kinda figuring phosphates (for the cyano)but with my nitrates at undetectable I figured vodka wouldnt work. Do you think phosphates are my light color problem, I thought they make corals brown mine are light and brown is the the last color I think of when looking at them.
