Can Zoo Med Power Sweeps work good on wave makers?

The oscillating function on the Power Sweeps seize up pretty fast in saltwater (probably something with calcium deposits, although I'm not entirely sure).

If you haven't bought them yet, I would go with Maxi-jets (good for wavemakers) and/or Seio powerheads. Tunzes are good too, if you have the money.

I use a 228 power sweep on my 40 T. I love it. The only time you have trouble is if it gets dirty or you continuously turn it on and off. There is a gear inside with a small metal prong that makes the powerhead sweep. That prong sometimes slides lower from the continuous on and off again. Not really a big deal though. It does a great job.

I have not heard many positive comments about the powersweeps, I'd save your money and at least get a Hydor Korilina, Seio, or a Tunze Nano stream if you have the cash.

Any of them will be a much better investment in the long run.

I use an old powersweep to mix salt for water changes. It stopped working after a couple of weeks. It's not Skilter or anything, but it's not the greatest....
