candy vs mushroom

I'm picking up a frag of candy cane coral soon (neon green type). The location I want to place it in has a couple of neighboring mushrooms (the ubiquitous red kind). The candy will certainly grow up and over the shrooms, but will they be stung? I've heard of shrooms causing trouble before, anyone have experience? If I have to, whats the bast way to kill a shroom?

Unfortunately, I have the bad experience. I let a ric get too close to my green candycane and by the time I noticed 1 head of the cc is showing lots of skeleton.

Shrooms are invinceable and will live forever. About all you can do is either put the candy cane somewhere else or cut the shroom at its base, and keep cutting it off as it grows.

I don't know if Joe's juice will kill them or not. Someone else chime in here.

I was thinking of cutting the nearby ones down to the base by razor, and smothering them with the coral mounting epoxy. By the time others grow close, the candy should have grown up and out.

just be careful, LPS corals are very sensitive to stings..
