Candycane Question

newbie question...

About two weeks ago I got a frag of candycane from someone. I've recently noticed small bumps on the side but near the tops of the branches that appear to be normal growth. They look like they will turn in to branches/heads (polyp).

However, this morning the largest head was (wide) open, and I could see two distinct mouths. Is this how they grow and split?

FYI - I recently started feeding it mysis about every other day.

I don't know what you mean about bumps on the side, but they'll typically split by going from circular to oval to pinched on the long sides to figure-8 shaped to separate. Keep feeding mysis and you'll have a whole lot of candycane in no time.

I started with (4) heads year ago and now have over (40)...I feed them about every 3 to 4 days.

I'll see if I can get a picture to post tonight regarding the "bumps".

But it sounds like the biggest head is going to split (yay!)

I started with 3 receded heads and quit my regular feedings when I got to 20 very large heads a few months later. They grow ridiculously fast.

Well, didn't get to take pics last night. So busy - may have to wait until the weekend.

But the "bumps" I referred to have grown and are now the same color (greenish) as the other heads. So I guess these also grow by making new heads, and not only splitting (?)

Anyhow, I'll get that pic to post.

I have never fed mine, but I have them under MH and they grow like crazy, and almost impossible to kill once they are healthy, the only way I have had candies reproduce is by splitting or dropping heads
