Captive Raised Corals.com (www.captiveraisedcorals.com) had its origins in the 1950's when , as a school age child, I was given my first tropical fish tank. Over the years it has been a cichlid hatchery business known as Island Tropical Fisheries.
In the early 1990's, I became interested in marine aquaria
and this has grown to a coral farm. The business name has been changed from its original to one more fitting its mission - to produce captively raised corals, reduce stress on the wild reefs, and, hopefully someday, provide an income for my family. Naturally, realizing the economics at play in our society where wild harvested animals are still available, I have had the foresight to keep my "day job".
Captive Raised Corals.com operates from my home on Long Island ( proud owner of one of, if not the, highest electricity rates in the country) with aquaria ranging in size from 10 gallons to 240 gallons. We expect to continue to add more corals to our list of available species regularly.
