caulerpa growth/pruning sexual

A couple questions,

Specifically grape and razor.

Any precautions for pruning to avoid releasing anything?

When to prune? how much is too much? What type of density to help keep it from going sexual?

I'm starting up my fuge, I've seen some that are pretty sparce and some that seem overgrown. trying to avoid a crash but want it to provide it's benefits.

29g w10g fuge. About 3/4 is fuge specific area.

I usually prune when it's getting kind of thick looking. Generally you can prune it back pretty hard without worrying about pruning too much. If your worried about what might get released, a simple water change and some fresh carbon will do
