center brace on stand

Depends on the stand. most of the commercial stands I have seen I would be reluctant to remove the center brace.

have you considered going through the side of the stand? I saw it done and can't find the link

I've done it several times for several reasons. Mostly and I say "Mostly" the center is removable. most of the weight is distributed evenly and the center "brace" is more for aesthetics for the cabinets with front doors.

A pic would definitely be helpful

i agree on the pics....i never like messing with structure on a filled tank because it would be just my luck that it would fail....but if we can all see the design of the rest of the tank.....I also believe that Brian with the 120g had to remove the center brace to get his new sump in...Brian? if you see this can you confirm??

The center brace on most commercial stands is just stapled in and not much of a brace. You can just take a hammer, tap out the brace, insert sump and then tap the "brace" back in place.

Is it stapled in or actually part of the frame? I have removed mine to put a sump underneath, it wasn't an issue at all. The staple was so weak that when I cut it, the top just pulled out then I removed the saw.

Before you start hacking away... make sure you say (outloud), "There is absolutely no way that something can go wrong here ."
