Chaeto in my sumpless display tank: bad decision?

I just got some chaeto for free. I don't have a sump. I'm thinking of putting it in a mesh bag (loose mesh, like tomatos might come in), and ticking it behind a rock formation in the main display. Is this a good idea (good for pods, nutrient export, and for things that like to eat chaeto) or a bad idea (as in, it will take over your tank and you'll never get rid of it).

Please advise. Thanks!

i got a ball of chaeto in my display tank. some people feel its tacky but it should really depend on whether you like it or not.

Chaeto in the main display is an excellent idea. It really is the best pod factory I have come across as pods can reproduce in it and not get picked off too soon. I have it in both my 90gal reef and 20gal seahorse tanks. Really helps out my pair of mandarins too.

Chaeto won't take over the tank if you regularly harvest it. It does not anchor in the rocks and can be removed at any time.

Calurpa is a different story. It anchors in the rocks and it can be impossible to remove it.

I have some cheto in my main tank. It is a great pod factory and reduces nitates. The only probalem I have is sometimes it gets tangled up in my sps corals.

Yeah I kinda hate when it goes inside my power heads, but other then that it is great to have it in the tank, I only have a 10g and I have a bunch of pods.
