Challice placement question.

Hi all;
Got another question. My tank is 24" deep. I have a 250 watt HQI. I was told by the LFS that if I placed a Challice about 7" below the water surface it would do fine. Is this right ? And another question. How deep in the tank can I put a Challice, is on the bottom ok ?

i would place in the middle of the tank on a downward sloping rock.

Not sure, only suggestion is to slowly bring it up to wherever you'll have it in the end. I picked up a chalice from an LFS and insta-nuked it at 16" below 400w halides. Luckily I saved some of it and it's doing very well at the bottom of my 90 under similar 400s.

Hi, thanks for the replies.
Were I want to put the Challice is between 15"and 19" deep, right under the light. What do you all think ?
