chateo issues

looks like my chateo is dying, if i try moving it it falls apart little pieces all over my refugium, also some is turning lighter maybe white

should i keep the refugium light on 24-7 or turn off at night?

I picked up some from Joe and its growing pretty good. I have it under some t5's that I run while my tank lights are on. What type of lighting do you have over it?

i got a halogen bulb everyone usually uses from home depot...

Weird that it's dieing. How much do you skim, is there any other algae, what other algae reduction items are you using?

Sounds like water flow is the problem........chaeto needs a strong water flow to do good.

Theoreticvally if there is die off the nitrates and phosphates are released back into the system.

How long the system been up?
How good is your filtration and turnover?

Two very imp q's to be able to determine cause.

i keep my chaeto in my fuge with SLOW water flow (100 gph highly diffused ( 55 gallon fuge) with homedepot compactflorecants ( i think the ones in the red box) fast growth really dark color


try changing the bulbs
