Cheaper super glue gel? Which is your brand?

I really like using the Loctite Super Glue gel, but boy it is expensive. I have seen some other glues here and there but I haven't tried anything that works as well as the gel.

Any alternatives to Loctite would be appreciated.

I just bought a ten gram tube of the loctight gel at home depot for about four dollars. Thats not much cheaper but the big tube is cool :)

I saw a recent post about getting cyanoacrylate glues at an RC hobby shop. Something like $5-6 for a couple of ounces, which sounds like a bargain to me. I was going to go check that out soon.

it's all the same stuff, cyanoacrylate gel is cyanoacrylate gel. I get 3 tubes for a buck at the dollar store and it works just as well as the name brands.

I superglue alot and have tried alot of brands and types. I've tried 3 different hobby shop brands and a ton of other major brands. Locite has my full sponsorship now. I glued a rock in my seahorse tank to the back glass using some hobby glue and it fell the next day so I reglued with loctite and everything it well.
They are all made of the same basic ingredient but they must have different formulas or mixtures because some are thinner or thicker or take longer to dry or are quick to dry.

the thick hobby shop glue I have used is not quite like the gel type and I did not like it as well.

Ace hardware runs the large Loctite tubes on sale fairly often. I paid $2 last time they had it on sale...

i use a scotch brand, which is a 3m product.it seems to work really well.pack of two at wally world.pretty cheap.

2oz. bottle of Maxi-Cure super thick Cyanoacrylate gel at the local hobby shop is the exact same thing and does wonders for me. $7.99

I've tried several and loctite brand IMO is the best. I can definetly tell the difference between that and another one. Other's work but the loctite sticks fast.

Totally agree! I am in the same boat. I have tried the supposedly thick bsi brand at the hobby shop. Nowhere near thick enough, or comparable to locite! No joke! No BS! Im not sure if they put something else in the locite gel, but there is no running. I had quite a bit of running with the bsi stuff.

ok, dumb question here, how do you get to use the glue a second time? mine always glues shut. i want to buy a bigger tube - maybe cheaper?
i have been poking holes in the small tubes, but always end up with more on my fingers then on the frags!

The Loctite glue above is really easy to use and I've never had a problem using it a second time. Sometimes it will harden on the tip but that can be pulled off with some pliers.

My only USE issue with this glue is knowing when it is done. Those little push tabs on the side don't really give you a good idea of how much is left.

you can use the other stuff for mounting to rocks or sticking them in holes but for mounting pieces sideways or to glass it's loctite
