Cheato dying off

My Cheato is dying off.

The cheato was growing great for about 3 months and the last two months it is slowly dying it off. It also smells quite bad.

Any ideas. My salinity has stayed the same. All my corals and fish are donig great. Any ideas?

You might try adding some iron if you are not already. I recently had a caulerpa die off. Once I started adding iron, the few strands of caulerpa that didn't die started growing like weeds. I also added some cheato after the dieoff and it seems to be doing good.

Hmm, I am seeing the same thing. My Cheat just kind of fizzles away like disintegrates. Besides the obvious CO2 and Nitrates. What does Cheat need to thrive.

I see Iron now. Is there anything else?

It also needs enough nitrogen and phosphorous. Generally feeding the fish more will take care of that.

I would try adding iron. Kent is the only one I know of that makes some for the hobby. I also add iodine. Not only is it beneficial to corals and invertebrates...but it's also beneficial to marine plants. At least IME.

So far...so greeeeeen. :p
