Cheato in Sump

Im planning on replacing my wet/dry bioball sump tomarrow with a DIY refuge.
My plan is to do it during my water change.
Can I pick up cheato tonight and leave it in my sump overnight until its ready to go in my refuge? Would It be ok if no lights are on in for about 24hrs?
I want to have the cheato ready for when the refuge is hooked up thats why I want to get it tonight.

Would u mind sharing ur DIY fuge . I have a 75g with wet/dry filter n I wanna change it to a fuge
