Cheato or Red Gracilaria Algae

I currently have Tang heaven red from IPSF in my refugium. I think it is Red Gracilaria Algae. Should I switch to cheato? Cheato sounds like a better nutrient export. Any thoughts? Thanks

I don't think anyone has done any studies showing that one species of macro algae does a better job than another.

I suspect that cheato is much easier to grow so it has become the favoured species.

Chaeto is usually faster growing, and therefor a better nutrient export solution. You can grow both, though. No reason to give up the Gracilaria, especially if you are using it to feed your fish.

I'm planning on a mix of stuff in my upcomming tank's fuge.

For some reason Chaeto isnt growing well in my fuge but Gracilaria grows fairly well. I dont know why.
