Choc. star finally strikes

Hey, just wanted to post a warning to any starfish owners out there. I caught my Choc. Chip Star eating a frag of button polyps today. Got him off in time to save most, but he's definitely going back to the lfs tomorrow! I always wondered what he ate other than the krill I was feeding him.

I know, but he's been in there for over a month and was well behaved until now. Gonna dx him for something else.

Wow I didn't know that. Thanks for the warning. I was thinking of getting one for my nano. I used to get them every month or so when I had a harlequin pair. I guess they were eaten up before they could do any damage.

note.. if you are replacing anything that lives every month or so something is going wrong

Nothing wrong there. The starfish were food for harlequin shrimps that only eat starfish and other echinoids.

:) They harlequins would actually finish a giant sized choc. starfish in about a week, but I figured one a month was ok. Sometimes twice a month. I loved the harlequins, but I began to feel bad for the choc. starfish and they were leaving dead starfish pieces all over the substrate! Not the most pleasant thing to see... lol
