How well do power compact lights work for Clam keeping?

36W X 4 on an 18 gallon aquarium

2 are 12,000 K Blue
2 are 7,100K White

Most people would recommend MH's while some have had luck with VHO's. If it were me, don't do it if you're gonna have PC's. :p

BTW, I do have PC's right now and do want to keep clams but unfortunately I am not going to until I upgrade to MH's. The clams will be much happier with MH's anyhow.

144 watts of pc lighting is not very bright at all. Upgrade to halides and then consider a clam. Remember that clams come from shallow tropical waters where they are blasted by intense equatorial sunlight.

Thanks to all that have replied.

I was told that I might have luck with a squamosa might do well, there is also another guy on here with on under PC lighting.

What do you all think?

I think a Squamosa or Derasa would be ok lighting wise, but the problem is then your tank size.

Darned if you do, darned if you don't.
