clam lighting

Just wondering if a small clam would bo ok in my reef tank. I have an 55 gal lps tank with 200 watts of csl smartlight. I can place the clam high in the water column.

I have to agree with wickerj. Clams enjoy intense lighting which smartlights simply don't provide.

Anthony Calfo seems to think this would be OK if I kept it in the top 1/3 of my tank. I just always need a second opinion, Thanks

Hello,
What type of small clam are we talking about and how small. IMO there are some that will be OK. I am not saying they will be GREAT. But if you get like a small maxima say 2 inches or under and feed him well he will do fine. And maybe put him in the upper third section of the tank. As he grows say over 3 inches MHs make a clam happy!

I read somewhere that depending on the colour of the clam, dictates how much light is needed. A darker (brown & gold) colour needs less light while a blue colour requires higher intensity.

Is this correct?
