clam mantel

i have a blue clam i dont know what kind but it is medium in size i think it is a croecia or a maxima,,,,any way the blue mantal has a toasty brown lookingring all the way around the clam looks healthy and has been under my 175 hallide for 6 months ,,,but it has brown ring in the center of the beutiful blue....any idea what this is

The brown could be a nature pigmatation of the mantle or it could be lack if intense lighting. IMO

As Barry said low light levels can cause the clam to brown up overall. If it is just a single spot maybe scar tissue? Has the clam ever been nipped at this point?

i dont see it being nipped and i dont think it has,,,,the brown started in one tiny spot and now goes al the way around the mantel,,,i saw once were someone was taking of an infestation of some sort with clams,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,probobly somthing a mark weiss product could cure with his prisiming water effect,,ha!ha!HA!...
