My clam I have had for 5 months did not open for 3 days and for the last 3 days has only opened half way. Livestock in the tank, emperor angel 2.5in., pair of oscellaris clowns, flame hawk 2in., and large coral bandit shrimp, other inverts and soft and hard coral mix. Tank 95 gallon stand alone with triple filter. It also has nitrate removal media and carbon. Protein skimmer and five powerheads in tank, tank turnover 18 times per hour. Clam is in a moderate movement area on the bottom, 18 inches under water surface and 22 inches under 150 watt MH light. Water parameters are PH 8.3, nitrate 10ppm and calcium 480ppm. Water changed 20% fortnightly and weekly additives of iodine, strotium and calcium supplements. All livestock and corals are in excellent health. Tank has been running for over two years with no problems. I have checked for pyramid snails and have found none. Tank temperature kept at 79 degrees. Has anybody any suggestions or know what is wrong?

The angel could be nipping at it.

i agree. that would be the first thing i look into. just one nip and the clam could stay closed all day.

Thankyou for your replys I will pay close attention to the angel, He has been a model citizen in the tank for the last 11 months.
