Clam Question?

My clam has attached it self to the bottom of my pleum. I has sunk down quite a bit into the sand. It is now being irritated by the sand. My question is how do I remove it without damage? How hard can I pull?

dont pull on it.

tip the clam to one side so you can see the byssal threads then take a sharp knife and cut thr threads as far away from the clam as you can
