Clams and PC lighting?

I have a 55g that is well established and i was wondering if it is possible to keep some kind of clam with a 260w PC lighting system?I would like to have a clam as my last addition to this tank,but i have never had a clam at all so i would like some feedback on this before i buy one.Thanks!

in my opinion clams should be kept only under halides or strong lighting, I don't think that 260w of pc will provide the quality and penetration of light that clams need, but opinions vary on this one

I know what you mean there,i have always heard MH for clams also til i started reading some of the threads on here today.I was just curious if it was possible and thought i would ask,i really don't want to buy a MH just to put a clam in the tank.I have to go pick up my new 200g tuesday and i will be putting 2-400w 14k hamiltons on that system as it is.Thanks for the reply!

I have a Deresa and a Squamosa under PC lighting. They're both doing fine.

Yes they are in my 55 I have 4 65 watt PC's 2 10K and 2 Atinics 03

Thanks again for the reply!Do they like the sand or do they prefer to be up on the rock?Sorry for all the questions,i have never had a clam and just want to be sure if i get one he is happy.

They like the sand. Deresa can grow really quick, up to a 1/2 in a month.
