Clams colors from different viewpoints

I just got my first 2 clams recently. Unfortunately one didn't make it through the shipping process. Its mantle never extended even to the rim of the shell. The other one, a crocea, is doing fine (knock on wood) for a week now.

Anyway, I know that clams colors change depending where you view them, i.e., from the top or through the glass. My question is does anyone know of a source that has a color translation chart between those two views? I'm more interested in the color of the clams when viewing through the glass (since that is how I view them most often). Pretty much all sites that sell clams only show the top-down view. If you have an open-top tank where you can easily view from the top, then that would be great. But many people tends to have an enclosed canopy on top, making top-down viewing not feasible. I wish the sites that sell clams also show the view through the glass as well as the top view.

Input or opinion guys?

Well I think it really depends on the clam, but most of mine are true to their color, except my ultra maxima which is blue with an orange center through the glass and green rimmed with blue and orange center from above. Either way I'm happy :). Here's a pic:

OK from what I see,

Green from the top = blue thru the side
Blue from the top = purple thru the side

I may try to start photgraphing both top and side, but it is hard enough to keep things organized and to photo many different items without having to do each twice.

talk to rob at east coast clams he will ask you what you want color wise, thru the glass or from up top.he has been great to me!

I like the aqua-blue color (like the ones on the 2nd to the left and the last one on the right in Rob's avatar). What color from the top view would give you that aqua color from the side view? Thanks everyone for the info.
