Clarification On MP40's

Deep Reef

I'm fairly new to salt (about 11/2 yrs), I have a 120 DT that is 48" long and I've been thinking of upgrading my pumps from the 2 sicci pumps which I have on an alternator to vortech mp40 pumps. I have seen some good changes in my corals by alternating the flow and that is one of the reasons to move to the vortech besides the low profile. However I am a little confused. I see terms like gen 1 / gen 2, model numbers and date of purchase posted. I figured out that 'W' means wireless which is good if you are running more than one but is it necessary if running 2? If someone with a little more knowledge then myself could enlighten me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

The w is only really significant with the mp 10. The newer mp40 models all have the ecosmart modes and wireless capability.

Mp40w us the older wireless models
New ones are mp40wes (they offer the newer ecosmart modes like nutrient export) they both communicate wirelessly with other w or wes pumps.
Usually ppl selling post manufacture date so you have an idea of how much use it has. I dont think my mp40w had manufacture date on controller maybe only the wes models do.
