Will cleaning the brown alge off the glass effect the cycling time of a new set up? The tank is only one week old and appears to be comming right along showing good progress; however, we are dying to clean off the glass! Are there any repercussions for this kind of action? Please advise. My wife is driving me nuts!

Nope, won't hurt the cycle.

Just don't let all the algae if its comming off in strands float around the tank. The best thing to clean the glass is to use one of the magnet algae cleaners.
