Cleaner Shrimp ?

I have a question about getting a Cleaner Shrimp. I have an open top tank and am thinking about getting a cleaner shrimp. I've heard from some people that their cleaners hang out around the top of their tanks and try to climb out of the tank sometimes. Has anyone else had this problem? Or do you think it would be ok for a cleaner shrimp in my open top tank?

I've had a cleaner shrimp with an open tank for about 6 months with no problems. I only recently covered it because of my additions of a goby and wrasse.

I had a skunk cleaner, and all he did was set up a cleaning station on a piece of live rock. Awesome shrimp, and never had any behavior like you just described.

Never heard of one climbing out.

They are by far my favorite critters in the trade. I tap the glass and they come up to the top for food. Even the peppermints are starting to follow suit.

Great to have in the reef, mine regulary clean my fish.
More likely to set up a cleaning station if in a pair or small group, also less shy.

I dont think one could because if you have seen the shrimp when they are taken out of the water they just collapse so I dont think they would have the strength to pull their bodies out of the water.
Ive had my shrimp for nearly 2 years with an open tank with no such issues.
