Cleaning light covers

I was wondering if anyone cleaned the clear plastic covers that protect the lights from water? My plastic covers look like they are covered with salt residue or oxidation like you get on car headlights.If you clean it what with?

Lol it's not stupid...you just need to double check before you do someing drastic like use windex lol...I'm sure you know not to use any chemicals to clean anything on your tank right? Just an FYI

I just pull mine out run warm water over it and rub it with my hand until it's clean, then dry with a soft cloth and put it back in.

Ok so let me ask this.Can I use a chemical that clears it so it looks kinda like glass?(I don't have any cleaner like that.I just didn't wanna go buy it and not be able to use it.)Could I do it at night with a cleaner then clean through with water then reinstall it in the morning so it can dry out?
